A man attacked Two staff in U.S. House Democrat’s Virginia office with baseball bat on Monday, Connolly and police said.
The injured staff were send to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said by Connolly.
The attacker who arrived at Connolly’s office asking for the congressman, is now in police custody, Fairfax City Police reported in a statement.
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) identified the man as Xuan Kha Tran Pham, 49, from Fairfax, Virginia, adding that his motives were not clear. He will face charges against malicious wounding and aggravated malicious wounding.
Connolly said in a statement: “The concept that someone would use the easy access of my staff for carrying out an act of assault is disgusting and heartbreaking.”
The USCP is launching a joint investigation with the Fairfax police into the incident.
Since entering the House in 2009, Connolly, 73, has served a district which includes Virginia suburbs to the west of Washington, D.C.
